Antartica

Antarctica is surrounded by the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian oceans. On occasion the Antarctic sky is lighted by magnificent displays of the Aurora Australis, or Southern Lights.

  • Antarctica  
      
    The Antarctica is an ice-locked landmass around the South Pole. The name means "opposite the Bear" or "opposite the Arctic."
  • Antarctic Ocean  
      
    Antarctic Ocean, or Southern Ocean, names sometimes given to the waters surrounding Antarctica.
  • Mount Erebus  
      
    Mount Erebus is an active volcano in Antarctica.
  • Antarctic Circle  
      
    The Antarctic Circle is an imaginary line running parallel to the Equator and circling the earth.
  • Antarctic Peninsula  
      
    The Antarctic Peninsula is a long, narrow arm of Antarctica.
  • Bellingshausen Sea  
      
    The Bellingshausen Sea is part of the South Pacific bordering Antarctica.
  • Weddell Sea  
      
    The Weddell Sea is an arm of the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Antarctica.
  • Wilkes Land  
      
    Wilkes Land is the coastal region of Antarctica south of Australia.
  • Victoria Land  
      
    Victoria Land is a region of Antarctica south of New Zealand.
